Whether you are two or twenty-two, there is something fun and special about receiving a spring Easter basket! When I was a kid, nothing was more exciting than seeing what treasures laid inside my Easter basket. Often the pre-made baskets with a special theme is what I received, much to my delight. But this post shows you how to make the perfect basket for your kids and “big kids!”
This post is all about making the perfect Easter basket!
The Basket
The basket is the base and an essential part of making a perfect Easter basket. While there are so many different varieties that would work, here are a few options that are too cute to pass up!
Bunny Ear Basket

This bunny ear basket is the perfect basket base for your little one. The wicker handle will be perfect for them to hold while running around looking for their Easter eggs. But it is also the perfect size to fill with some goodies.
Wicker Basket

This wicker basket is the perfect combo between cute and functional. This would be absolutely adorable filled with Easter treats. But it could also be repurposed after for a perfect farmers market basket, kitchen decor or more!
Woven Basket

This woven basket is probably the most “non-traditional” as a basket, but for your big kids that maybe aren’t still using it for an Easter egg hunt this works perfectly. After you fill it with all their holiday goodies, they can reuse the basket in their home!
Filling
Once you have the basket, it is time to build a little bit of a cushion for all of our treats. This part is optional, you can just fill it to the brim with goodies. But I like to have a small base of filler so that the items in the basket are more visible!
Crinkle Paper Shred

This recycled paper shred is the perfect thing to use as filler in the bottom of the basket! But you can also be creative! If you have leftover paper bags or newspaper you can cut/shred them or ball them up!
Sweets
Sweet treats are an essential part of any gift really, but especially the perfect Easter basket. I think it is important to have a good split with sweets and gifts. Here I will list everything from classics to some more original ideas.
Chocolate Bunny

A chocolate bunny is the perfect centerpiece when it comes to Easter basket sweets. Some people may prefer a regular chocolate bunny, but for me a Reese’s peanut butter bunny is always the superior choice! But tailor this to your recipient. If you want to stick to just chocolate, I recommend the Lindt chocolate bunny for some better quality chocolate!
Candy
There are so so many amazing options for Easter themed candy, and I will link some of those here. But this is also the perfect opportunity to show the recipient how well you know their favorites! Add in any known favorite candy or treats and watch their face light up!

Some people absolutely love Peeps. I don’t understand those peoples, but to each their own! If you are looking for something that sweet, but won’t send your sugars through the roof, try the Smart Sweets Berry Bunnies! These Starburst Jelly Beans are my best friends all time favorite. If you don’t want to add a whole bag to the basket, add a few into some plastic Easter Eggs and add those in!
Cookies

One of my favorite tips is using your favorite local spots! For me in Charlotte, NC, that is Suarez Bakery. If you’ve ever had one of their sweet treats you know just how special they are! And an Easter basket is the perfect place to feature one of their stunning iced sugar cookies. But whatever your spot is, see if they are making any Easter themed cookies and add those to the basket as well!
Gifts
Once you’ve gotten the sweet treats squared away, it’s time to fill it with some fun gifts! Below I will list things I recommend for both little ones and big kids! When it comes to what to get, the options truly are endless. But when it comes to gifts I always want it to be something they will use, but maybe wouldn’t get themselves. So try to find little special things for each basket.
Water Bottle

A cute water bottle is such a great addition to any gift basket. Kids love and need them, and adults can’t seem to get enough! This Owala Water Bottle comes in the most Easter appropriate colors and makes for a great basket stuffer. For a kid alternative, these Camelbak Kids Bottles are so stinking cute. They also come in a variety of designs, perfect for your kiddo!
Bubbles

While they share the same name, bubbles have very different meaning for your little kids and your big kids! But both can bring so much enjoyment! These adorable Easter Mini Bubble Wands make for a great basket stuffer. For the big kids, consider a little bit of bubbly with this Prosecco mini bottle or their favorite beer or soda!
Crafts

This Easter coloring book makes for the perfect easy craft for your kiddos. Pair it with these Twistable Crayons for a complete activity. Or start a new Easter tradition with these cookie cutters!

For your big kid baskets, there are tons of options for crafts or activities. Friendship bracelets are back again and this bracelet making kit is just perfect! If the whole kit won’t fit in the basket, put a few of them in and hand them the rest after they get their basket! Another craft I absolutely love is this pressed flower kit to make beautiful panels.
Games

Another fun addition to any Easter basket is a game! A small card set fits perfectly in the basket and makes for a great activity they will love. This classic card game set includes Uno, Skipbo and Phase 10! Another favorite is Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza! Or for the little ones, try a classic Old Maid set with a twist called Mer-Maid!
Happy Easter!
I hope this has given you some inspiration for building the perfect Easter basket! But more than anything I hope this gives you structure to be creative in! Think of your kid or partner and their favorites!
